Upon enlisting in the Army in World War I, Stan (Stan Laurel) and Ollie (Oliver Hardy) soon end up in jail when they offend both the cook and a general. On their release, Stan and Ollie are sent to the front. There they meet old friend Eddie (Grady Sutton), who tells them his wife gave birth just before deserting him, leaving the baby behind. When Eddie doesn't return from the battlefield, Stan and Ollie locate the baby and set off on a series of adventures to take the child to Eddie's parents.

Simon T @Bucksplit 12/22/2018 It may not be the funniest Laurel & Hardy but this early feature is still delightful and at times even quite moving. The boys spend the bulk of the movie trying vainly to locate a toddler's grandfather (helpfully called Smith). One of the best sequences is semi-improvised - Stan fighting sleep as their ward tells him the story of Goldilocks. The cast is studded with cameos by L&H regulars like Billy Gilbert, James Finlayson and Charles Middleton. Even moderate Laurel & Hardy is hugely entertaining. Trying to find them is of course no easy task, and leads to one comedy of errors after another. Another fine feature film that's gotten them in. An assortment of gags that hit the mark and the casting of the incredibly adorable Jacquie Lyn as the plot's catalyst make this is a must-see.
