Critics Consensus

Nostalgic and inert, Practical Magic 2 has charms thanks to Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman's sisterly rapport, but its mechanical plotting is a whole lot of toil that's not worth the trouble.

Now, with Practical Magic 2 doing little more than retracing its predecessor’s steps, but stripped of a good chunk of that film’s visual charm, the legacy sequel reminds us that a solid story can rarely be built atop a flimsy foundation.

Fans of the original will no doubt be thrilled to revisit the Owens sisters’ world. But this overlong, muddled, sporadically amusing picture may test the patience of even the most dedicated Practical Magic loyalist.

... "Practical Magic" is kind of the perfect example for how these sequels rest on the laurels of their performers, and the audience’s relationship to those performers, and squeak by on everything else.

Practical Magic 2 could have been fun, but lacks the magic to bewitch. So, if it is nostalgia you are after, better rewatch the original.

The Owens might be cursed, but whiteness haunts the Practical Magic films just as fully.

Not quite as fresh as the original, but it had heartwarming and fun performances from the main cast.

Ugh it wasn’t great. Felt unnecessary, lazy and generic.

The bond between Sandra & Nicole appeared to be real, not acting. Very good story line.

It was a nice transition from the original. I would have liked to have seen more of the OGs because it was more of a handing over the baton but it was still good. It's a must see for the folks who saw the film in the beginning and even for those who like a bit of a story.

Just a great as the first movie. It is so wonderful to see actors actually having fun together-you can tell how much Sandra Bullock and Nichol Kidman enjoy working together and bringing this film to life!! The supporting cast is awesome too.
