Critics Consensus

Pretty Woman may be a yuppie fantasy, but the film's slick comedy, soundtrack, and casting can overcome misgivings.

This is a textbook example of how perfect casting can elevate a film beyond the limitations of its premise and plot.

The intelligence and wit of this glass-slipper heart-of-gold fantasy are shocking too, but hell hath no part of the surprise.

It's presented as a romantic comedy that boasts undeniable chemistry between Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, but overall, I find it somewhat boring and superficial in its modern fairy tale. [Full review in Spanish]

One of my favorite movies. It has humor, and some drama with a good plot. I love Julia. It’s a Cinderella story.

A lot of fun, with breakout performances in a dynamic that I didn’t anticipate to love so much. I see why this has become a classic

One of the best romances of all time. Unconventional, iconic story with masterful execution and perfect casting. I yearn for more romance movies like Pretty Woman in the 2020s.
