Tony F @Batmorph Jul 23 The hand-held camera technique has been used so many times in this teen genre that it's become a gimmick. The premise of the movie and how messing with time travel could really screw things up was very promising to start with, but the film never really came to anything in the end. See more Blake- N @PBSAniDom May 18 Project Almanac is a pretty mid sci-fi movie from MTV Films that has a cool premise but never really becomes something special. The time-travel idea is interesting at first, and there are a few moments that make you want to keep watching, but the film does not fully use its concept in a memorable way. The found-footage style gives it a different feel, though it can also make some scenes harder to enjoy. The characters are decent enough, but none of them stand out as especially strong or unforgettable. It feels more like a movie with ideas than a movie with a lot of depth. There is enough here to stay mildly entertaining, especially if you like teen sci-fi stories, but it also feels uneven and a little forgettable. A better script and stronger execution could have made a big difference. Overall, Project Almanac is not terrible, but it is not all that impressive either. I would call it a 5/10: watchable, but definitely just average. The story was promising, but goodness, why did the director think people would enjoy watching video footage? It doesn't feel raw; it comes across as low quality. The woman taking the video is so annoying that I don't even want to know the name of the celebrity, argh! See more welington S @Avaliador405 Mar 7 I found the film interesting in its story of a group of teenagers creating a machine using notes left by the young man's father; possibly the father already knew what his son was going to create. That time machine, haha, brilliant! The film addresses this interesting theme about young people developing a machine to travel through time, restoring their mistakes and making the most of them. They lost, and they're still changing what they wanted to change, even though the young people just can't make the time machine go back in time to the dinosaur era, only by 3 weeks and 10 years, anyway. I liked the movie; it had great potential for a sequel, etc., but the audience doesn't know its essence, though everyone has their own critical opinions.
