Its mixture of horror and comedy counteracts the stakes but provides some genuinely unhinged hilarity. Go to Full Review

Resident Evil is largely a one-man show, and Abrams carries it deftly. Go to Full Review

After the bone-deep scares of Barbarian and Weapons, it’s a bit of a letdown to see Cregger blow his creative capital on a gory goof. But video games aren’t meant to be a good use of your time, and he’s done enough work to earn a few hours on the couch. Go to Full Review

[Zach] Cregger is able to avoid the pitfalls of most video game adaptations by finding the similarities between his own sensibilities as a filmmaker ... and what it is that makes video games so enjoyable Go to Full Review

A picaresque ride through videogame horror with a great performance from "picaro' Austin Abrams. Cregger makes a case for being this generation's John Carpenter. Go to Full Review

Like Weapons, this Resident Evil is good, clean horror fun — if by "clean" and "fun" you mean "bloody" and "terrifying." Go to Full Review

Ben 4 hrs ago This movie had loads of comedic moments followed up by good jump scares and an overall unsettling atmosphere. This was a fresh view on the already established IP where instead of getting Resident Evil from the perspective of an augmented super human, it’s just a regular guy who just wants to do his job and go home. I can relate my dude lol See more Corwin C 5 hrs ago One third comedy two thirds gorey horror one hundred percent unapologetically fun! See more Moises G 5 hrs ago I’ve watched this MOVIE 3 times already! This is the best RESIDENT MOVIE I’ve seen so far. It has the survival horror POV and it works so perfectly. This movie made me SCREAM for the first time over one jump scare that was so unpredictable. They scared me so PERFECTLY. It made laugh and scared at the same time. It’s FUNNY how realistic we would act in a very scary situation. The MAIN CHARACTER represent us as players when we are new to the RESIDENT EVIL world we try our best to conserve resources as we move forward. People complain how this doesn’t feel like RESIDENT EVIL. As I started to learn (and play) about RESIDENT EVIL, I wondered what it is actually. I realized it’s not all about zombies, it’s about BIOWEAPONS. Zombies is just the tip of the iceberg for these games. I hope fans realize and appreciate this MOVIE a lot more. I thank Zach Cregger for making such an amazing RESIDENT EVIL! I hope he comes back to direct a sequel! This MOVIE deserves so much praise and really RECOMMEND to everyone (fans or not to the games) to watch this MOVIE. I wish i could rate it 100/10! See more William 6 hrs ago I thought the idea of this movie was great. 3rd person(of sorts)view as if playing the game. I can't count how many times my wife and I said, "Don't do that...". I really enjoyed the anticipation and angst I felt through the whole movie. I could be critical of a few things but it's Resident Evil. I knew what I came to see. it was exactly what I expected and to be honest, better at times than expected. This was such a fun time and a welcome departure from the months of disappointing dribble that's been on the big screen in 2026. See more Tuhir S 6 hrs ago Enjoyed the new direction of the film. The main actor was relatable. Though there were some jump scares it was hilarious. See more Sean A 7 hrs ago Great movie with gore galore. See more Read all reviews
