The Maclean brothers, Paul and Norman, live a relatively idyllic life in rural Montana, spending much of their time fly-fishing. The sons of a minister, the boys eventually part company when Norman moves east to attend college, leaving his rebellious brother to find trouble back home. When Norman finally returns, the siblings resume their fishing outings, and assess both where they've been and where they're going.

This movie is one of my top 5 movies of all time. Being a brother this movie hit me especially hard and allowed me to realize the importance of that familial relation. I have to say the film captures the love, respect, internal infighting and frustration that comes only from the brother vs. brother dynamic perfectly. I'll never forget this movie and the lasting impact it had after the credits roll, it sticks with you. Excellent acting and direction!!

I think that a vital point of the movie didn't really hit me the way it should have. For that reason this movie didn't do much for me overall. I do think it deserves a rewatch. So hopefully I'll get around to that one day.

With a run time of 2 hours you would think something would happen but it never does. This movie is pure boredom from start to finish. Its only saving grace is the stunning Montana backdrop.
