What to Know

Critics Consensus

Road House updates a cult classic for a new generation, happily replicating the original's emphasis on cheesy brawn over narrative brains.

Audience Says

Road House can sometimes be so bad it's good, but more often, the uneven acting and ridiculous story are just disappointing.

In spite of otherwise flat-looking film-making, the action choreography of Road House 2.0 is thoroughly enjoyable. Go to Full Review

The gonzo magic of the 1989 original is gone, but there’s enough bone-breaking action here to satisfy B-movie aficionados. Go to Full Review

The combination of Gyllenhaal’s easy charm, some Florida sunshine and at least one fight scene for the ages make this Road House worth stopping by. Just try to grab a seat in a quiet corner. Go to Full Review

[The film] has zero big-screen appeal, beyond the charisma of Gyllenhaal. He does a fine job here, but what’s the point of trying when everything else barely works? Go to Full Review

As with many movies where a paper-thin premise quickly collapses by the end—and just like the 1989 Road House itself—this new Road House gets more joyously absurd as it goes along. Go to Full Review

Look, this movie isn’t trying to win Oscars. It’s here to entertain you with a healthy dose of action, humor, and Florida weirdness. If you’re looking for a film with a plot tighter than a boa constrictor’s grip, this might not be it. Go to Full Review

B P @Bradster69 20 hrs ago Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more Isiah P @oOstutterOo 21 hrs ago Pretty generic story but also descent fun to be had here. The cinematography brought a unique and gritty feel. It made the camera feel like it was part of the fight. Also super fun and b.a. performances from both Jake Gyllenhaal and Connor McGregor. Some really beautiful shots as well. This movie had its own identity which I can always appreciate. Not sure if roadhouse really needed a remake but this is a good one to throw on if you’re curious. It was a half descent action film. I don’t see myself choosing this movie again but it wouldn’t be bad for a background watch sometime. See more Ken K @RT25234314 3 days ago Pathetic excuse of a movie seemingly targeted only to diehard UFC fans. One fight scene after another strung together with a dumb plot and a lot of bad acting. Jake G. must have really needed the money to star in this dog. See more D P @RT45936356 Sep 23, 2026 I watched the new version first, and then I checked out the original version. Both versions were about what and what to me. See more Ivan R @RT88443011 Sep 11, 2026 Movie was ok, it’s a typical action type of movie you would see in the 80’s or early 90’s, kinda lacks story, some of the fight scenes were pretty good, but overall just an average movie, it’s ok as far as background noise but beyond that doesn’t offer much See more Ron G @RT48342791 Sep 10, 2026 Yeah, Pretty hackney stuff. Meaningless action and brutality , Script doesnt really make much sense. Cartoon-like characters like out of a video game. See more Read all reviews
