Critics Consensus

Ronin earns comparisons to The French Connection with strong action, dynamic road chase scenes, and solid performances.

It's like watching the revival of a forgotten art form; the fact that it's done with a minimum of special effects makes it all the more stirring.

Couldn't decide if not knowing what's in the case was a plus or minus - but all the backstabbing is fun. DeNiro holds it down.

With the cast's, especially Robert De Niro's, impeccable performance, so many interesting and convincing leads and details, the exciting car chase without CGI, and the sharp editing, this movie deserves a 7.4.
