Critics Consensus

Rush Hour 2 doesn't feel as fresh or funny as the first, and the stunts lack some of the intricacy normally seen in Chan's films.

Despite the presence of the terrific Zhang Ziyi as the dark lady, the movie cannot escape its stale "I Spy" trap of Formula. Go to Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Aug 14, 2023

Jaime B @Jimmy393 6 days ago Rush hour 2 is so good See more Musa A @doodleflame Aug 29, 2026 Literally one of the funniest movie's I've seen, and amazing chemistry between the leads! The pinnacle of the trilogy. See more Bruce F @MoralMaster Aug 10, 2026 A great sequel there chemistry is perfect good fight scenes nice funny moments the dynamic is just right between them See more Jason R @JasonLovesMoviesForever Aug 6, 2026 Hilarious movie and good martial arts action! See more Brandon H @thebrandonjhelms Aug 1, 2026 I think this is probably the best out of the trilogy. It is more refined from the first one. The jokes are more funny and there is even more action. I think these movies will always be in my heart as I would always rewatch these movies with my grandma when I was growing up. See more Josue P @RT26164816 May 19, 2026 Rush Hour 2 combines speedy action with large cities shot in very aggressive cinematography to produce an energy that would be impossible if it were not a cinematic aesthetic. With dynamic camera angles, vivid cityscapes and rapid-fire editing that accentuate the comedy as well as the martial arts scenes, many of which keep moving. With a mix of humor, choreography of action beats and ultimate slick lighting, the movie offers an entertaining visual aesthetic that invokes the best vibes of early 2000s action-comedy cinema.
