Tony Manero doesn't have much going for him during the weekdays. He still lives at home and works as a paint store clerk in his Brooklyn, N.Y., neighborhood. But he lives for the weekends, when he and his friends go to the local disco and dance the night away. When a big dance competition is announced, he wrangles the beautiful and talented Stephanie to be his partner. As the two train for the big night, they start to fall for each other as well.

Every so often a film comes around that seems to have its finger on the pulse of society and it makes such an impact that it changes pop culture. Saturday Night Fever was that film in the late 1970s.

I love watching classic movies and am able to appreciate there were different perspectives in different times. However, after 20 minutes I had to shut this off because I felt gross continuing to watch it and could not handle how incredibly foul it was. This movie did not age well and thus can in no way be considered a classic. It was disgusting.

Thought it was gonna be a good time but I think it was just made in the past for the past. really cool music but like yhea everybody loves disco, I don't compensate for the fact that the film aged poorly. It's just "straight man fool around and find out but it's okay because boys will be boys" in the end the character is still the same douchebag. Cool but I think I might be too young to be blinded by the nostalgia of the 70' american culture.

The soundtrack of course is incredible, and the dancing is awesome especially since JT actually did it himself. But as far as the movie itself, it was terrible. The plot depended entirely upon character development, which the movie almost completely lacked. The main characters were such jerks for so long that you just wanted to see them change or get what they had coming to them, which they didn’t even do. At the end of the movie the credits shocked me bc I was sure there had to be half a movie left due to how empty the story was. At best this movie was a BeeGees music video but it would have been low for them. As a woman the subject material is very hard to watch even with JT dancing his heart out. But overall the story and plot were just so weak for such an amazing soundtrack and such great dance moves.

Synopsis
