Critics Consensus

Meow that the wait for Super Troopers 2 is finally over, all but the most devoted fans mustache themselves why they waited so long for such cruel and tragic shenanigans.

As in the original, the amiable, laid-back tone generates enormous good cheer.

A sequel nobody needed, and very few demanded, but one that is nice to have anyway. Very daft and very childish and mostly very funny.

Color me surprised that this partially crowd-funded sequel isn't a complete and utter embarrassment.

Super Troopers 2 is ... bizarrely jingoistic and sexist, which is ... strange, because the first one didn't have these problems.

Put me in the mind of the infinite monkey theorem. To paraphrase, an infinite number of frat boys hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a script at least as funny as Super Troopers 2.

I honestly did not know there is a second movie. I hated the first movie and could not understand the appeal. Slam'n Salmon was much funnier and Beerfest is always in my play list. every instinct was telling me this movie would be like the first. i was not disappointed. it follows the same script as the first movie. utterly stupid. imagine mine disgust when i saw the listing for a third movie. cinema has gone down hill.

I had high hopes for ST2. I was a massive fan of the original film. The start initally threw me but I soon caught up. Story line was a bit flaky but there was some laugh out loud moments. Similar jokes and an abrupt ending for me...

Like a Clerks sequel where there is so many callbacks to the previous film but a bit more with little payoff but still fine

Super Troopers 2 is absolutely stupid, but honestly, that’s exactly why it works. I watched the first and third movies before getting to this one, and the franchise has a strange ability to keep you entertained despite how ridiculous everything is. The screenplay isn’t brilliant, but it doesn’t really need to be. These movies are built around incompetent police officers doing things that make you wonder how they were ever hired in the first place. Somehow, watching them be this ridiculous becomes the entire appeal I actually found this installment hilarious. Sasso, Rob Lowe, and Sean William Scott all add something to the mix, and the cast commits completely to the absurdity. That’s what makes the movie work for the audience it’s targeting Critics can hate it all they want, but this franchise clearly has an audience that enjoys exactly this kind of stupid comedy. I also think spacing the movies out has helped. They haven’t been released constantly, which gives people time to miss it
