Lynn R @RT54441037 08/02/2025 I’m giving it 2 stars bc I luv Terrence Stamp. And I liked the opening. It starts in black and white and then all of a sudden it goes into color. That was an unexpected surprise. But other than that , I’m not quite sure what the director’s message was. I get Stamp’s character is Christ like. But personally, I prefer that characterization in his performance as Billy Budd. Considering that his character is Christ like. Or Godly. I would not want to be touched by God in this story. What a price to pay. Now is the Director such a Marxist that he wanted this family to pay for their sins for reaping the benefits of capitalism? I don’t know? I would have thought being touched by God the opposite would have happened and the family would have come together and found love and togetherness. Not in this film. Obviously the director hates capitalism. And wants to show you how it will destroy the family. I like avant garde films. But I think I’m more a Fellini fan. I'm not Catholic so that I couldn't fully understand/empathise the context behind it. I know Stamp is the stranger, but I am confused because seems like there are so much protagonists at once.
