Jesús and Maria love each other, endlessly, magnificently, even though they sometimes just don't notice. But hey, now that their little lump of love is born, everything's going to work out. Sure, Maria still has a bit of a North-Korean streak in handling the household, calling all the shots when it comes to the color of their apartment walls, the name of the baby, the food they eat, the TV shows they watch, the thickness of the toilet paper and their holiday destination. Jesús, to prove to her and himself he ain't some spineless trilobite but that he has a will of his own, gets to pick the coffee table. Halleluiah! A hard-won victory that he's cherishing by picking out the most aggressively ugly little thing imaginable, the furniture equivalent of Liberace getting lost in Ikea. An unbreakable wonder, says the salesman. Overpriced, says Maria. It will bring boundless happiness to their lives, says the salesman. Their worst nightmare, says us....

The Coffee Table perfectly balances its tone to make its horrific subject matter not only bearable but darkly comedic. Incredible performances further contribute to the unique tone that is masterfully struck by Casas. Go to Full Review Rebecca Sayce FILMHOUNDS Magazine Jul 24, 2025

Not for the faint-hearted, The Coffee Table breaks the boundaries of being a simple horror film or a dark comedy, paying off for those brave enough to watch. A wonderfully executed film that is equal parts distressing and devilishly funny. Go to Full Review Meredith Jill Brown Upcoming Horror Movies Jul 17, 2025

The Coffee Table is a surprising glimpse into the inner workings of how normal people will deal with a horrifically tragic and unexpected event. Go to Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views Nov 4, 2024
The filmmakers have conceived a bleak, emotionally violent film, but other than a lot of blood, it is not actually graphic. It will feel graphic, and you may wind up with a headache afterwards. Cayas is wise to let us use our imagination. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Charles F @RT28739519 Sep 21, 2026 Absolutely horrifying movie. Excellent film which perfectly combines comedy and horror with psychological delirium. It is especially impactful for anyone who has kids. The table might be cursed or haunted, sure, but this could happen to you. What would you do? It's so horrifying. I'm destroyed lol See more Chad M @TheChiefCigar Aug 12, 2026 This movie should not exist. Period. See more Dallas H @FozzieMcFly Jul 22, 2026 The father horrendously messed up. Why did he think it was a brilliant idea to purchase a glass coffee table when there is the health and safety of a newborn baby at home to worry about? I thought you were supposed to have everything baby-proofed at home. Nope, not in this story. He brings home a murder weapon of a coffee table and then accidentally drops his baby right through the pane of glass, instantly killing his son. Dude, why?! Was the lame sales pitch about the coffee table being indestructible truly a believable selling point? I would imagine the father should have gone into a nuclear meltdown of an anxiety attack after the incident occurred. However, after all is said and done about its story, I truly wonder if Lars von Trier would have taken the script for this movie and made it shockingly more depressing than it already is. See more Giovani M @RT55636328 May 31, 2026 Para os críticos o filme é maravilhoso, porém para os amantes do cinema o filme não tem emoção, não tem suspense, só consegue ser considerado terror por ter sangue envolvido no enredo. See more Benjamin H @RT03626419 Apr 11, 2026 Human anguish converted to film in the most brilliant way possible.
