In 1933 a boy discovers an ancient Native American in a sideshow carnival tent. The Indian is Tonto (Johnny Depp), the old companion of John Reid (Armie Hammer), a lawman more famously known as the Lone Ranger. With this opportunity to set the record straight about his and Reid's adventures, Tonto recalls the day in 1869 when he first encountered the man who would be his trusted friend and tells of their teamwork bringing down Butch Cavendish (William Fichtner) and other Old West outlaws.

this movie is honestly a worse Disney western movie than home on the range mainly because it drags way to long and has a tone whiplash worse than Dark Shadows (2012)

I don't get why this has such a low rating - I actually found this touching, profound despite the superficial comedy, and definitely very watchable - kind of an Indiana Jones vibe overall, but at the same time with a more tangible connection to actual tragic history that most action movies simply avoid. The settings and scenery are also very detailed and beautiful and deserving of a high def format and screen. In today's times of cynicism, fake everything, and sensory overload, somehow this movie managed to get through and keep me engaged.

One of my childhood TV hero/comicbook Character got completely Ruined for all the reasons. The entire movies was nothing but a eyesore and gagging feeling of using a Western day Hero into a useless cringe worthy character that saddled along with a none wise, unfunny character, that is totally different from the TV show i sit to watch on saturday mornings.

If you were expecting True Grit or Gunfight at the OK Corral you're going to be disappointed. This movie is written in the spirit of Pirates of the Caribbean and is meant to be funny at times. The villains are truly villainous and the good guys are well-meaning but inept and yet the closing half hour brings them all together in a satisfying, thrill-a-minute conclusion.
