Of course, those around her saw that as "evil." Rita's sparkling eyes & beautiful face is worth a watch. Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Charles Vidor did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the adventure and drama. See more 07/09/2019 Horrible script, juvenile acting by Hayworth and Ford. Since they were capable of more, this shows the power of the script. Why would such a monstrosity be green-lighted? Columbia seemed to lack the experience of bigger studios because they churned out so many clunkers that should have been stopped pre-production. This is a prime example of the drecks the industry could produce. See more 05/01/2013 After seeing Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford in :The Loves of Carmen" last night on TCM, I have a real appreciation of why Rita Hayworth was such a huge box office draw. She was exciting to watch and it's easy to see how so many men were mesmerized by her beauty and spunk! Glenn Ford was perfect or the role of Don Jose as well. I'd watch this movie again!
