Holland March (Ryan Gosling) is a down-on-his-luck private eye in 1977 Los Angeles. Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) is a hired enforcer who hurts people for a living. Fate turns them into unlikely partners after a young woman named Amelia (Margaret Qualley) mysteriously disappears. Healy and March soon learn the hard way that some dangerous people are also looking for Amelia. Their investigation takes them to dark places as anyone else who gets involved in the case seems to wind up dead.

Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe stumble through the chaos with perfect chemistry, turning every bad decision into another reason to laugh. The film juggles razor-sharp comedy, bruising action, and unexpected heart without ever dropping the ball. Beneath all the broken noses and smart remarks is a surprisingly poignant story about flawed people trying to do one decent thing in a world that keeps making decency feel like a losing bet.

Action-Comedy lost classic The Nice Guys (2016) ****1/2 THE NICE GUYS is a wildly entertaining buddy comedy that proves Shane Black still has a perfect ear for sharp dialogue, memorable characters, and action-comedy mayhem. Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe have phenomenal chemistry, Angourie Rice nearly steals the movie, and the film's stylish 1970s setting and infectious sense of fun make its lack of a sequel a real shame. Absolutely hilarious, not only Ryan but Russel as well they have great chemistry and the way they bounce off each other with their lines and delivery is amazing. Definitely one of Ryan’s funniest films even though he’s great and funny in most this one is definitely a top 5. Great film.

Good cast aside, the plot is a total mess the script a bit clunky and fast at times and it's too OTT. A shame, really, as it held a lot of promise.
