Andy and her team of immortal warriors are back, with a renewed sense of purpose in their mission to protect the world. With Booker still in exile after his betrayal, and Quynh out for revenge after escaping her underwater prison, Andy grapples with her newfound mortality as a mysterious threat emerges that could jeopardize everything she’s worked towards for thousands of years. It really pains me that this film isn’t nearly as good as the first one. I’m a big champion for the first film, but the magic seems to have been lost here, either with the change in director, the film’s long time on the shelf, or something else.

It feels like a film interrupted. However, I’m leaning positive for now, believing that the world building here can benefit a third installment. However, the third film could be far more Jurassic World: Dominion, and less The return Of The king.

The Old Guard 2 has some good action and Charlize Theron still delivers a strong performance. However, the story feels slower and not as exciting as The Old Guard. It’s an okay sequel, but it doesn’t match the impact of the first movie. Ada guna seni keris n itu terbaik. 🎬⭐

I’m biased. I would watch any action movie staring Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman. Seeing them both together is a real delight. This sequel seems to get a lot of negativity, which is a bit undeserved. Exotic locations filled with sword wielding immortals. It may not be the most amazing Highlander-ish film, but a fun ride regardless of its imperfections. I can’t wait for the sequel.

I am not an action, sci-fi, or superhero fan (my favourite film of the century so far is "The Brutalist"). I came to "The Old Guard" as I will see Matthias Schoenaerts in anything. I came away loving all the characters, especially Nicky and Joe. Of course the sequel is not up to the first film, but – with the exception of "The Godfather" – how many films can you name with a "2" after the title which are as good as the first instalment? After reading one dreary review after another, I was pleasantly surprised at how entertained I was by "2". It was great seeing all the main characters again, and – for me – there was enough action and it was nice for a lazy Sunday afternoon. It's unfortunate that it left things open for "3"; I will be very surprised if that ever happens, given the state of American media corporations and the government’s increasing control. Watch more European, Asian, and South American films. My favourite films of 2025 came from Brazil, France, Iran, and the UK.
