Andrew Desmond's feature-length narrative debut The Sonata is a literate, methodically paced throwback thriller that plays a little like a Hammer production from the mid-to-late 1960s.

Ignoring the fact that nothing much is going on here, director Andrew Desmond plods along trying to make you believe otherwise.

A thriller that, despite decent moment-to-moment pacing, drags out its anticipatory finger-twiddling far too long.

A creepy atmosphere and wonderful score can’t completely make up for the unrealized potential of the film’s concept.

Many elements of The Sonata are familiar, but don't let that put you off. The sum of its parts is very worthwhile, beautiful, atmospheric and precise.

This movie came out of... nowhere! It REALLY enjoyed this. The use of the music in particular got the horror elements near perfect! Actress is very good too. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Filme bastante interessante, com uma atmosfera misteriosa e intrigante. Gostei da junção do horror com a música clássica. Embora não seja memorável, merece ser visto. (Por isso a nota 5)

This was weird in a way I enjoyed but the ending felt rushed and like they didn't really know how to wrap things up.
