Director Yeon Sang-ho makes smart use of the cramped quarters, and while it's true that his zombies' abilities tend to vary according to the requirements of the moment, it's easy to overlook amid the onslaught of action and emotion.

Many of the film’s great images capture the tenderness of parental love: a close-up of a father’s hand holding his daughter’s, a husband glancing back at his wife and in his dying breaths suggesting a name to his pregnant wife for their coming child...

It was fun to watch, and the movie was very pretty, but MAN were the characters dumb. Like, so dumb it was painful to watch. I was really expecting them to come up with some interesting elaborate plans to get to Busan safely, but it feels like most of them intentionally get themselves killed just by being so obtuse. I love the concept, but I just don't think it was very well executed. The actors did great with what they were given, but they really wrote our main lead to be the most boring, uninvested character I've ever seen. Barely spoke two words to his daughter the whole movie, which I get was his main problem, but the only growth he had happened in the last five minutes of the movie. Some of the plot points were so ridiculous and over the top that they did genuinely make me laugh, but most of my investment in the movie was me yelling at the characters through the screen whenever they do something stupid. Lol. Overall, it was just okay.

Original, well made, and good for a zombie movie. Koreans are pretty good at cinema now and this is a great example. It's a keeper.

This was a near-perfect zombie flick. The sense of impending doom never lets up, and the tension builds with every stop the train makes. The pacing is nonstop—in the best possible way—driving you straight into an emotional, adrenaline-packed climax. An absolute standout in the genre.

One of the best zombie movies I have ever seen. Crazy scary with incredible plot twists. And surprisingly quite emotional. A few parts seriously choked me up. If you are into zombie horror, this was an amazing, wonderfully crafted, film.. Highly highly recommended…
