Critics Consensus

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a noisy, underplotted, and overlong special effects extravaganza that lacks a human touch.

The movie is like the play date from hell, the kind where a crew of children reduce your home to rubble and conduct endless bouts of loud war on the living-room floor while you ponder the propriety of opening a bottle of wine.

Eager to get myself into the right mindset for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I turned to the multiplex patron sitting next to me and politely asked him to slam my head against the forward seatback.

I would like to think that even if I was 14, either in body or spirit, I would still find this film an impossibly, incomprehensibly overlong and cacophonous bore.

It's hard to believe so much money was spent on something so horrendously, both visually and narratively.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an extremely flawed film that re-hashes the same shots and didn't know where to take it's story...

Bay finds every reason and no reason at all to blow stuff up real good, proving once again why he should be directing energy drinks commercials and music videos, but not motion pictures.

The story involves historical events and is a good blend of facts and fiction making the story more interesting the movie makes you lose interest in some scenes and there was some mistakes on special effects and lighting but overall very interesting story moving forward from the previous movie worth rewatching

over whelming special effects, and war like movie, does not offer much, unless you don't mind hard to visualize continual special effects. and all these woman throwing themselves at men... whats with that ?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is good because the scale is much bigger than the first film. The sequel adds more robots, more destruction, more locations, and more mythology, giving it a broad adventure-movie feel that moves from college to government facilities to Egypt. The best action moment is Optimus Prime’s forest fight. It is one of the strongest set pieces in the series because Optimus feels powerful, heroic, and genuinely outnumbered. When the robot action is clear, the visual effects, mechanical detail, and sense of impact are still impressive. Shia LaBeouf keeps Sam frantic and funny enough to carry the human side, while Peter Cullen’s voice gives Optimus the movie’s strongest heroic presence. The story is messy, loud, and overstuffed, and some of the humor is weak, but the spectacle is big enough to keep it watchable.
