But just as the two try to skip town, they happen upon a series of mysterious deaths and a concerned seismologist (Finn Carter) studying unnatural readings below the ground. Critics Consensus

An affectionate throwback to 1950s creature features, Tremors reinvigorates its genre tropes with a finely balanced combination of horror and humor.

Propelled by impressive practical effects, this is an oater-inflected monster movie which fully embraces its own icky absurdity and literally low culture – but the film’s hidden weapon is a strong focus on characterisation.

Tremors is the Slacker of monster movies: bemused, improvisatory, willfully low-key.

It's a zippy melodrama for small-town America and small-towners at heart: well-executed kitsch for audiences that will still be amused at the notion that the bugs are getting so big, they'll drag us all down.

"Tremors" is one of those rare entertainments that use special effects to complement -- not compete with -- the plot.

Aimed at fans of the horror-with-humor genre with monsters created by the Aliens folks, the film is overall lacking and predictable.

I was happily surprised by this film. It was intriguing, the chemistry between Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward was great, and very well paced.

Just as good, if not better than I remember when I originally saw it in the theaters as a kid. Brilliantly written and executed. And the cast kills it, pardon my French.

Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward are excellent as Val and Earl. The Graboids and their practical design look ugly and wonderful, at the same time. Goofy quotes, and plenty of laughs in this classic horror comedy. A film that holds a special place in my nerdy heart! 11/10
