Caroline (Marisa Tomei), a young waitress who seems to have bad taste in men, is on her way home one night when thugs attempt to rape her. Adam (Christian Slater), the mysterious busboy who works at the same diner, helps fight off the assailants, and she begins a relationship with him -- but not all their fellow Minnesotans are happy for them. Meanwhile, the couple face their own difficulties when Caroline finds about Adam's past, including his unique health condition.

A low-key, beguiling romance set in a Minneapolis diner. Tomei Is outstanding as a waitress attracted to Slater's character, a gentle, hulking bus- boy too shy to speak.

الفلم حلو . القصة جيدة رغم بعض جوانبها سطحية القصة مركزة اكثر على ابطال العمل . حواراتة جيدة مو عميقة دراميا لكن جيدة . الممثلين ادائهم جيد او بالاحرى الابطال ادائهم جيد لان الفلم ما ركز على الشخصيات الثانوية ادوارهم و حواراتهم كانت سطحية . شخصية البطل غامضه و بناء الدرامي لشخصيتة ما تناولت كل جوانبه . البطلة ادائها كان ممتاز وحظورها جيد. الاخراج كان جيد بشكل عام سرد احداث القصة بشكل تصاعدي بالبداية حسيت ان يتخبط لكن بعدها وازن القصة وسيطر على الاحداث رغم ان مال الى الجانب الرومانسي للقصة اكثر من الجانب الدرامي و هذا خلاني اشعر ببعض الازعاج لان القصة بيها دراما حقيقية لكن المخرج تناولها بشكل سطحي لم يتعمق اكثر بها. التصوير كان جيد جدا متزن وهادىء. الموسيقى ممتازة و تتناسب مع الفلم و مشاهدة . اختيار الاغاني في الفلم كان مقبول و لو انا بعضها عملتلها سكب . بختصار الفلم قصة رومانسية مع دراما سطحية.

Brilliant. Acceptable writing and well brought to screen by Tony Bill. Christian Slater and Marisa Tomei really excels in character, well the whole cast convinces in character. Good cinematography and visually appealing. Lots of emotion, suspense, drama, intrigue and very memorable. Surely elevated by the lead characters performances but very touching nonetheless.

A movie that has remained with me for 20 years. Haunting and beautiful. I often think back to it. Untamed heart slowly unfurls, carrying you along, swaddled in it's warth, mystery and care. The Nature Boy theme song lingers beautifully. And Christian Slater is, as always, VERY pleasing to the eye 😉

Oh it's a sappy one. There are some engaging bits and moments of sweetness, but I fear a lot of it is just going to be deemed "problematic" by a modern audience. Which will make them less accepting of the more storybook elements. But this is peak era Slater and Tomei and I would watch them in anything.
