Critics Consensus

This satire on the art world is at times both clever and shallow, but its top-notch cast generates plenty of goodwill.

Writer-director Jonathan Parker sets us up for a 90-minute debate on aesthetics and artistic integrity, and that's a tedious exercise in any medium. Go to Full Review Eric D. Snider Film.com Nov 21, 2009

Skewers the world of contemporary art in a way that's insightful and funny without becoming a broad parody. Go to Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times Nov 12, 2009

The impenetrable gallery jargon is quite funny at first, and the brothers' twisted relationship is set up nicely, but the movie errs when it takes itself seriously. Go to Full Review David Lamble Bay Area Reporter Jun 18, 2020

The characters...are wrapped up in their own perceptions of their greatness and are an odious lot. This is fitting for the film but leaves the viewer without a character to like. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Robert P @Superbad Sep 16, 2026 Untitled = a *3* star Movie! See more Marit Risto F @MaritRisto Oct 23, 2025 A bit old fashioned. We did such things in Aix en Provence 50 years ago. Artists must have freedom, even if we "like it" or not. I left though, first to Oslo, to do yoga. Then to Greece to paint, in Hydra island. Plenty of people have said that the painting is dead. Not so. The only character I like is Punch. Find her as fabulous as Tilda Swinton, and Stina Ekblad. There's a strong feeling of frustration, and the auntie's beach gallery doesn't help. So I hope to see Lucy in a more inspiring film very soon! See more Scott E @RT19581245 Oct 4, 2025 A great statement about the art world. See more May 7, 2015 Quite eccentric. Quiet. Subtle. Just like its own storyline... See more Jun 26, 2014 Probably the worse movie I've ever seen!! See more Dec 21, 2013 Skewering satire of the New York art scene. Great fun. See more Read all reviews
