It's this relentlessness of the action and technology that make the film more of a simulated ride. I wouldn't have boarded. Go to Full Review

What's left is a world of industrial Gothicism, nightmare morphing effects, ahistoric gadgetry and Breughel-lite grotesquerie. Go to Full Review

The exteriors are fantastic, the castles mega-looming, and there's a beautiful -- if fanciful -- masqued ball which shows off to perfection the costumes contrived by Gabriella Pescucci. Go to Full Review

Between its spectacular production design, excellent makeup work, interesting visual effects and ambitious story, "Van Helsing" feels like an inflated, epic, varied and fast-paced adventure. [Full review in Spanish]. Go to Full Review

This is Indiana Jones meets Hammer Horror - the relentless action is blended with a knowing undercurrent and dramatic gothic styling. Go to Full Review

The humor, most of which comes from a monk as a comic sidekick, doesnt work here either. It just emphasizes how campy the whole premise really is. Go to Full Review

Saba A Jan 8 I don't know why people have grudges against this movie, but for me this is the best monster verse Movie and It's got directed by one and only Steven summers the same person who made the mummy therefore they're both in the same universe. Some people may say it doesn't have good CGI but for 2004 It was the best. This movie has a great and beautiful cast and also the best custom design ever, they actually transformed Hugh Jackman into vampire hunter D 🥀. At last but not least the story was good, but It could have been better if they just used one monster in this movie, but they've got three different kinds of monsters and an angelic monster hunter with no backstory WOW. It gets a bit manic in the final half hour but it’s fun, fast paced and an enjoyable plot. Watched on DVD. See more Chicken mermaid R @bananagrandma Dec 9 AMAZINGGGGGGG. The visuals and transitions were beautiful. The theological ideas, perfect dark fantsty movie. See more D3Z 1 Nov 11 Although the likes of Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale did what they could, unfortunately not even their performances could do much from the dull and underwhelming supernatural flick with very little stakes, questionable plot and over usage of poorly done CGI work. See more Robert M. @Robert55 Nov 8 I give this vampire saga a higher rating than the 24/57 percent it currently has. Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale are fine actors. It's well filmed and has many nice moments. I think it lost major points on the CGI effects. Poor even for 2004. It has humor, drama, monsters, werewolves, Frankenstein, and a ton of vampires. And Kate is stunning. See more Read all reviews
