There’s no room for impulse or surprise; “Verity” is smothered in good taste and aspirational dignity, and not even an incompetent crime investigation is as ridiculous as such airs. Go to Full Review

It’s trashy fun made by an overqualified creative team, but it struggles to find a finale memorable enough to match the literal bloodbath of its opening. Go to Full Review

Still, it’s wickedly playful, and it gives its central performers plenty of chances to show off their technique and build their movie-star personas. Go to Full Review

Showalter may not be Hitchcock, or even De Palma, but he manages to build suspenseful atmospheres. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

It has enough confidence to be a slow burn: a potent mix of psychological tension, attractive leads, and clever twists and turns. Go to Full Review

The film attempts to explore the blurred lines that often divide fiction from reality, but it never achieves the grace or precision of films that delved much deeper into this theme...[Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Alex 2 hrs ago Absolutely loved it. Did the book justice. I know you can't fit all the disturbing parts of the book on there because of the controversy and length it would end up being but I think it was perfect. See more CJMAC 1 hr ago This movie was a bit disappointing and disturbing. See more Mix W @BarsShushes 2 hrs ago Who doesn't love a juicy nasty twisted thriller? See more Kristin M @RT58678197 2 hrs ago Terrible. The only thing good about this movie is Josh Hartnett. I’m not sure if this movie just missed being camp or not. Dakota Johnson is the most boring actress with her monotone voice. See more Birithivy Y @ViewsOfCinema 3 hrs ago Verity - 8.5/10. Saw this at an early screening! Quite shocked by the mixed reception to this. Going in with no expectations, this caught me off guard in terms of being such a pulpy and juicy drama/psychological thriller. Think of this as a heightened version of “The Housemaid” mixed in with “Gone Girl” (though, this is still original in its own way). “Verity” is possibly the best Colleen Hoover film adaptation, and it certainly is the most entertaining one so far. Verity sees a story that starts off on familiar grounds: struggling writer gets an opportunity of a lifetime, takes that opportunity, and ends up getting way more than they bargained for. What initially seems like a standard ghost writing gig ends up making them enter into a complicated web of drama, causing them to question what is real and what is concocted in the mind. Grab your girlfriends, get your popcorn and have a great time seeing this movie. Don't listen to the critics. See more Read all reviews
