On the Wall Street of the 1980s, Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) is a stockbroker full of ambition, doing whatever he can to make his way to the top. Admiring the power of the unsparing corporate raider Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), Fox entices Gekko into mentoring him by providing insider trading. As Fox becomes embroiled in greed and underhanded schemes, his decisions eventually threaten the livelihood of his scrupulous father (Martin Sheen). Faced with this dilemma, Fox questions his loyalties.

Oliver Stone's Wall Street is exactly what I had hoped for -- a sensationally entertaining melodrama about greed and corruption in New York, a movie that evokes the power of big money so strongly that you can savor it on your tongue like Stilton and port.

Without [Michael Douglas'] portrayal of the ruthless corporate ruler who has the instincts of a carnivore, this would be a very ordinary movie. As it is, the film struggles to convince and the script is disappointingly cliched.

My wife and I made it an hour into the movie. In that hour absolutely nothing happened. It seemed safe to assume that the next hour would also have nothing in it, so we bailed. ChatGPT said this is one of Michael Douglas‘s best movies. I don’t get it. Very disappointing.

The way this movie oozes with 80s style is magnificient and really helps in building it's atmosphere and overrall tone. The performances are obviously amazing either, specially Michael Douglas, playing Gordon Gekko, with a huge charisma and screen presence.

Wall Street's atmosphere feels sandwiched as do many of the shots within the film in order to establish the hustle and bustle of the busy streets of the city. The story has viewers invested immediately with the Michael Douglas character Gordon Gekko who takes under his wing, Bud Fox (played by Charlie Sheen) until the very end when their downfalls become more apparent. Wall Street contains positively utilized themes of greed, loyalty, power and everything above.
