Liv D @Minervalous1 Sep 13, 2026 DO NOT recommend! This is a waste of film, time and talent. I was under the impression this was a feminist film when in fact it’s anything but. It’s not funny, it’s not scary, they got gross. It’s shlock! It’s more focused on the Nicholson character and everything he does to the three female characters. He puts them under his power, they all fall for it then realize that maybe that wasn’t a good idea he should go. Oh and we all are carrying his demon seed. And he’s still around in the world to help corrupt his sons. From the title I expected more witch. I got Daryl, who fits right in with the current "manosphere" men of today. It’s all stupid. Don’t watch it! See more Jeffrey B @jeffblake5000 Sep 13, 2026 If I had watched this movie 15 years ago on cable I would have assumed it was edited for television. I just kept feeling like I was missing something. The story doesn’t make much sense. The characters motivations are odd and it’s just a disjointed movie. I kept having the feeling that it was a very bad translation from book to screen. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Sep 8, 2026 The Witches of Eastwick is actually a very good film. It’s not something I would necessarily jump up and down to rewatch on a regular basis, but it’s definitely the kind of movie I could revisit down the road when I’m looking for something entertaining. Michelle Pfeiffer, Cher, and Susan Sarandon did an incredible job balancing their characters and allowing each woman to have her own identity. Considering all three were major Hollywood stars, bringing them together already gave the film plenty of credibility. Then adding Jack Nicholson to the cast took the excitement to another level. What I really appreciated was that the movie didn’t overdo the witchcraft aspect. It found a way to tell its story without becoming too campy or feeling like it was trying to compete with movies such as Hocus Pocus or Practical Magic. The supernatural elements were there, but the characters and their relationships remained at the center of the story. See more Johnathon W @Hoppynsc Aug 17, 2026 Enjoyable supernatural comedy that plays well the first two thirds but falls apart a bit in the end. The cast is excellent across the board, with the lead actresses compelling as three best friends drawn into the Devil's grip, while Jack Nicholson is having a ball playing the Devil himself. Behind the camera, director George Miller has fun with the source material, for the most part, but the resolution is a bit weak and anti-climatic. Nevertheless, a enjoyable watch for the actors alone. See more Torin F @nonlinearize Aug 2, 2026 THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK is a weird one. The Updike novel on which it's based is described (believe it or not) as pro-feminist, but the film seems anything but. In an inadvertent devil's bargain, three women summon a man of their desire, and then must subdue him once the fun becomes too much. Jack Nicholson steals the screen with a comedic and creepy performance that emphasizes the women's responsibility for all that happens, and their eventual triumph lands them in... domestic roles.
