The writers do not take the time to understand the complex dynamics of female relationships which is why this movie is an epic fail. See more Blu B @RT43513976 Sep 1 It starts out of the gate a fast sharp moving comedy with some laughs but the longer it goes the more it rapidly deteriorates. It's crazy given the all star cast this has and just wastes it. The editing and pacing isn't good. It starts bouncing around between multiple subplots of Curtis/Weaver, the brother and his marriage, and the revenge plot. And it just gets weighed down by dumb ridiculous scenes also. The more ridiculous the plot gets the more the humor starts falling flat also. This is like a dumb post high school revenge comedy and romcom mixed together and can't make the two ideas work well. Honestly if they just would've cut out the Curtis/Weaver subplot alone that would've helped a lot. Betty White is great here though. Everything else is ok enough. It's very easy going family affair type stuff that's never offensive. This is very much a "Chick Flick" type of movie. But that still isn't an excuse for being so flat, jumpy, and wasting such great talent. Skip this. The idea has potential ans it shows in the opening but just needed more refinement. See more Marina S @RT69759442 06/04/2025 I don’t think I’ve gotten so angry watching a movie in years. Somehow they all act like exposing a bully is worse than actually being a bully. The message of the movie is basically that it’s ok to be a bully, you don’t ever have to stop bullying, you will face no consequences and if someone tries to expose you, they’re the bad person. The whole family is horrible, they obviously never cared about Kristen Bell enough to know who her bully was or in what way she was bullied, they act like the bullying was a petty one-time misunderstanding. The bully is still bullying her as an adult, but don’t worry, it all works out for the bully in the end. The bully gets chosen over the bullied by the victims family. In reality, Kristen Bell would probably choose to never see her brother again, but also in reality a brother who loved his sister probably wouldn’t date someone who tormented his younger sister both as a teenager and as an adult in the first place. The jokes don’t work either, unfortunately, so it doesn’t have that going for it either. This film is great fun with some really talented actors like Jamie Lee Curtis, Sigourney Weaver and Betty White. The story might be a bit far fetched but it’s sheer escapism and all done in a lighthearted tone. Definitely recommend.
