What's fascinating, heart-wrenching about L'Amour fou is the portrait of Saint Laurent that emerges from archival footage and photographs. If you ever doubted that he was the greatest designer of the second half of the 20th century, you won't after this. Go to Full Review

It is devoted, rather, to the calm, thoughtful, and ultimately elusive reflections of M. Berg on the dismantling of a legacy Go to Full Review

It goes through all the usual celebratory motions but, without giving away too many secrets, suggests that nothing satisfied him enough - in fact, quite a lot made him suicidal. Go to Full Review

Fong Kok Hoong F 11/14/2019 Although the French title means Crazy Love and largely reminisced by Yves Saint Laurent's longtime business partner and lover Pierre Bergé, this documentary about the passions and demons of the French fashion iconoclast is incredibly impassible, stodgy and unilluminating. See more 09/22/2014 Finally caught up with L'AMOUR FOU which actually has very little to do with the crazy love implied by the title. This is a solid very serious and almost elegiacal film about the master Yves Saint Laurent. The film is full of ellipses designed to make you think about fashion, art, wealth, culture, and fame. Little is said directly but L'AMOUR FOU will leave you thinking and talking for days. A really interesting work. See more 11/30/2013 Idealized, worshiping, one-way, lack of real l'amor fou, Berge's documentary. See more 06/18/2013 There were a lot of silent portions of this movie. See more 02/03/2013 Great documentarie! Absolutely genious! Touching and made me feel part of a fashion movement that didn't really catch me before, til watching this film. I declare myself as a new fan of YSL! For all the reasons shown in the movie and beyond. Precise and with a perfect rythm! A must definetely!! See more 11/29/2012 A morose, vivid look at the end of the love affair between fashion and lovers. See more Read all reviews
