For six summers, Barry's Bay was a magical place full of firsts for Percy Fraser, including first love—and first heartbreak. Ten years later, an unexpected tragedy brings Percy back to Barry's Bay, where she has to face the people, memories, and mistakes she thought she'd left behind, especially the one boy who changed her life forever—Sam Florek.

I know it’s set in Canada, home of the maple, but, goodness, this show’s sugary sap gets sickly all too quickly, especially as it plays out to an impossibly bland and flavourless soundtrack of breathy, dirgey love songs. Go to Full Review
Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter 20h
So besotted with its own heartbreak it forgets to sell the romantic fantasy that would make it worthwhile in the first place, it mainly serves to confirm that recapturing that The Summer I Turned Pretty magic is easier said than done. Go to Full Review

One can see the attraction of the story, especially for consumers of young-adult fiction. It offers eternal love, betrayal, regret and redemption, in earnest if not always logical fashion. It also takes the mature tack. Go to Full Review

There’s nothing revolutionary or even unique about Every Year After. But the cast is charming enough and the setting is pictureseque enough to make the show a pleasant distraction for fans of romantic dramas. Go to Full Review

Jayme L. @RT61904934 41m FINALLY, a show that dresses teenagers like teenagers and doesnt hyper sexualize them. I will die on this hill. Thank you! See more Nan H @MountainGirl 3h An entertaining exploration of how romance is (often) roughly navigated as teens and young adults, showing the intensity of it all, and how hard lessons are learned. I like that it leaves a lot "murky" because that is how that time of life plays out for a lot of us: So much naïveté, so much confusion, such a poignant and heart-wrenching time. See more Lillian A @RT12692244 8h Having read the book, I still found the show to be a delightful summer must-watch and enjoyed every moment of it. The actors brought the characters that I love to life so perfectly it was as if they jumped out of the book. The chemistry between Sam and Percy was almost too much for me! See more Mehraeen S @RT81241197 8h This felt like a mediocre show with really bad production and bad acting. Every plot point from the book was messed up. Even if they needed to bring in more characters to follow a tv show format, it was not true to any of those characters and ruined the entire story. If you’re gonna make a show about a book, might as well stay at least 75% true to the book. Side note, why go through all that to change the simplest plot point that Percy is Canadian and lives in Toronto, and Barry’s Bay is a real town in Muskoka, ON, not BC. I don’t get it. See more Scott W. @Scott348 8h Big letdown. Very boring See more sim S @RT38420966 8h such a dreamy and expansive ode to percy and sam’s story. loved every second! See more Read all reviews
