House of the Dragon Season 3 was incredible. The dragon battles were on another level and easily some of the best action ever put on television. It balanced massive spectacle with great character moments and political drama, so it never felt like it was just action for the sake of it. The performances were excellent, the visuals were stunning, and every episode left me excited for the next. For me, it’s one of the strongest seasons in the Game of Thrones universe.

I can’t even begin to articulate how disappointing season 3 is! I’m not a book reader so for me it’s not about how bad it is as an adaptation. It’s the constant betraying of ITS OWN precedent, standard and internal logic! Just take your one star and put this show out of its misery! ASAP!!

House of the Dragon Season 3 is a major step backward in storytelling. After a strong opening, the season almost completely loses its pace, direction, and tension. The same conflicts are repeated across multiple episodes without meaningful decisions, consequences, or shifts in power. Crucial characters such as Hugh and Ulf receive far too little development despite their importance, while weak side plots are stretched far beyond their value. Major events are constantly delayed, teased, or reduced to brief moments instead of being properly told. Even Criston Cole’s death has almost no impact. The season confuses slow storytelling with complete stagnation and wastes its cast, world, and enormous budget. Episode 1 showed what this season could have been. Everything after it feels like an overlong setup for Season 4.
