Lost Ladies (2023) Jimmy Cage LAAPATAA LADIES is a nice feel-good movie at the intersection of mainstream and independent cinema. Certainly a bit mellow, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

KALKI (2024) Jimmy Cage KALKI 2898 AD is extremely ambitious and at least on this sci-fi scale unique in Indian Cinema. Unfortunately, the storytelling is also rather confusing and lackluster and never able to convey big emotions. Somehow it is always everywhere and nowhere.

Kunjiramayanam (2015) Jimmy Cage KUNJIRAMAYANAM is a really enjoyable little comedy with quirky characters, absurd situations and great songs. However, it is also a little bit repetitive.

Chak De India (2007) Jimmy Cage CHAK DE! INDIA has a great cast and a good message. Apart from that, it is a totally predictable, boringly staged paint-by-numbers sports film without any sense of naturalness or humanity.

Yavanika (1982) Jimmy Cage YAVANIKA has a great ensemble cast. A best-of Malayalam Cinema. The narrative structure of the film is also interesting, but then again, unfortunately, not as interesting as it could’ve or should’ve been.

My Name Is Joker (1970) Jimmy Cage Full of humanity and beautiful cinematic, classically melodramatic expressiveness. With a runtime of over four hours, it does drag a bit, but the first hour alone will forever remain one of the great chapters in Indian film history for me.

In Harihar Nagar (1990) Jimmy Cage IN HARIHAR NAGAR is charming 90s Malayalam comedy fare with wonderful actors, the usual crazy situations and lots of brawls. The way it switches to the thriller genre is interesting, but also a bit too prolonged for my taste.

Baasha (1995) Jimmy Cage BAASHHA is Rajinikanth fun through and through. Wonderfully nostalgic masala entertainment with a super charismatic star, beautiful songs, good action and the right amount of comedy. The film does have the usual weaknesses, but that doesn’t matter much.

I Have Found It (2000) Jimmy Cage KANDUKONDAIN KANDUKONDAIN has a wonderful cast, good characters, nice camera work and songs – and for almost two and a half hours offers a really enjoyable time, which is only sometimes diminished by moments that are bit too melodramatic.
