Morning Glory (2010) Ilan Preskovsky But as Morning Glory quickly proves, maybe there's nothing wrong with a bit of good, old-fashioned fluff in your cinematic diet. Especially if the fluff in question is as well-handled, entertaining and flat-out joyful as it is here.

The First Omen (2024) Ilan Preskovsky Not only is The First Omen a worthwhile prequel, it might actually even be better than the original film. It does wobble a bit in the final act, but it gets enough right to forgive its occasional dips into silliness and over-exposition.

Godzilla Minus One (2023) Ilan Preskovsky Godzilla Minus One is a far more substantive film than many, perhaps even most, of the big "serious" awards contenders being released now...But (even just as) a giant monster movie, it's a rip-roaring success.

The Marvels (2023) Ilan Preskovsky The Marvels gets tons right. It has some wonderfully mad sci-fi shenanigans, inventive action scenes, a nicely compact plot, solid character development, and tons of on-point humour, but the reason it works comes down to our three main heroes.

Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) Ilan Preskovsky There is plenty that's genuinely great about the film [but] it's too long... more importantly, it needed to spend less time on plot and more on character development, especially on those characters played by the film's two biggest stars.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) Ilan Preskovsky Admittedly, Mutant Mayhem is nowhere near as good as the Spider-Verse films...but it's a really, really good Ninja Turtles movie and further proof that those Spider-verse films were a much-needed shot in the arm for mainstream Hollywood animation.

You People (2023) Ilan Preskovsky Any yet, there's just something unbearably sanctimonious about this film; a sense of self-righteousness about its racial attitudes that is tone-deaf at best and genuinely, alarmingly hypocritical, at worst.

Oppenheimer (2023) Ilan Preskovsky It's a huge film, designed to be watched in IMAX (as I did) but it's actually a very intimate tale: arguably the first character study that Nolan has ever done.

Barbie (2023) Ilan Preskovsky It's hard to understand getting angry about a film like Barbie. It's such a joyously bonkers, rip-roaringly hilarious, and yes very pinkly-coloured piece of pure unbridled entertainment.
