Holy Rollers (2010) Robbie Collin If ecstasy was as boring as this film about it then the war on drugs would've been over 25 years ago.

3/5
Super (2010) Robbie Collin Super's arriving in UK cinemas only now, to avoid any direct comparisons with Matthew Vaughn's brilliant Kick-Ass. So naturally that's why there's a massive "MUCH BETTER THAN KICK-ASS" quote on the poster.

2/5
Larry Crowne (2011) Robbie Collin The film pretends Tom and Julia are just two regular, down-to-earth, middle-aged people - even though their faces couldn't be any tighter if they pulled washing-up gloves over their heads.

2/5
Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011) Robbie Collin If you're prepared to sit through two and a half hours of noisy cack to see a grand total of three decent special effects sequences, then I can heartily recommend it.

4/5
The Tree of Life (2011) Robbie Collin You don't watch The Tree Of Life so much as loll in front of it. It's part puzzle, part coming-of-age tale, part wildlife documentary, and all mind-blowing.

4/5
A Separation (2011) Robbie Collin Cleverly, as new details emerge about what REALLY happened, your sympathy lurches from side to side like Amy Winehouse doing Back To Black at the Belgrade Alhambra.

5/5
Akira (1988) Robbie Collin Plenty of superb recent blockbusters, including The Matrix, The Dark Knight, Minority Report, Dark City and Inception, are all in its debt - not to mention a fair number of shockers, like Star Wars Episode II and the most recent Resident Evil atrocity.

2/5
Incendies (2010) Robbie Collin Normally I'm against decent original stories being dumbed down and squashed into bog-standard thriller shapes. But Incendies is in dire need of some dumbing down.

4/5
Viva Riva! (2010) Robbie Collin Viva Riva! is exploitation cinema done right - it's got both feet planted in the here and now but its heart's bursting with the same lurid, filthy values that B-movies have embraced for decades.

4/5
Ghosted (2011) Robbie Collin As is standard in reviews of prison movies, the Film Reviewers' Code obliges me to tell you "it's nowhere near as good as A Prophet". But even so, Ghosted's a top piece of work.

1/5
Love's Kitchen (2011) Robbie Collin Gordon Ramsay must be the first man I've ever seen to be out-acted by his own hair transplant.
Posted Jun 18, 2011Edit critic review
5/5
Bridesmaids (2011) Robbie Collin Completely and utterly honk-like-a-goose hilarious.
Posted Jun 18, 2011Edit critic review
1/5
Green Lantern (2011) Robbie Collin Two finger-drumming hours of puffed-up, prancing tripe, that couldn't have been any more irritating if the lead role was played by that bellowing Go Compare fatso.

1/5
The Beaver (2011) Robbie Collin I'm still hoping for a sequel in which Jodie gives Mel a puppet cockerel.
Posted Jun 12, 2011Edit critic review
1/5
The Round Up (2010) Robbie Collin I can't say I'm too comfortable with the hero kid in a holocaust drama (Hugo Leverdez) being a blond-haired, blue-eyed Master-race Child.

2/5
The Messenger (2009) Robbie Collin Shame nobody told writer-director Oren Moverman not to shoot The Messenger... before giving the script a good rewrite first.

1/5
Swinging With the Finkels (2010) Robbie Collin You wouldn't wish the supporting cast on a film made by your worst enemy. They include the dad from the sixth Beethoven movie (yeah - somehow they got him), Angus Deayton with his bum hanging out, the mummified remains of Jerry Stiller.
Posted Jun 12, 2011Edit critic review
4/5
Bad Teacher (2011) Robbie Collin The film's main stock-in-trade is the kind of faintly bizarre, offbeat gags that you might find in a decent US sitcom - which is no bad thing and also makes sense given the writers' Office pedigree.
Posted Jun 12, 2011Edit critic review
4/5
Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) Robbie Collin Take heed, The Hangover: Part II. When a studio asks for "more of the same", it's possible to come up with a film that hits all the same high notes as its predecessor - without just photocopying the script and adding "... but abroad" after every gag.

2/5
Last Night (2010) Robbie Collin An hour and a half of pan-American todger-teasing.
Posted Jun 04, 2011Edit critic review
3/5
Honey 2 (2011) Robbie Collin The soundtrack's ace, the dance routines are great, and the eye candy's Wonka-standard.
Posted Jun 04, 2011Edit critic review
3/5
Kaboom (2010) Robbie Collin I've often thought that I'd like to see a bit more of Juno Temple. After seeing Kaboom, I don't think it'd be possible to see more of Juno Temple.

4/5
Point Blank (2010) Robbie Collin Goes like the clappers for all of its elastic-snappingly tight 84-minute running time.
Posted Jun 04, 2011Edit critic review
4/5
Senna (2010) Robbie Collin Formula One fans should love it. More tellingly, so should everyone else.
Posted May 28, 2011Edit critic review
3/5
Screwed (2011) Robbie Collin Its grimy authenticity clicks like a rusty mortice lock.
Posted May 28, 2011Edit critic review
2/5
Prom (2011) Robbie Collin It's what some parents might call "good clean fun". Just without the "good" and "fun" bits.
Posted May 28, 2011Edit critic review
2/5
The Hangover Part II (2011) Robbie Collin A film that seems to have been written mainly with the find and replace function on Microsoft Word.

5/5
X-Men: First Class (2011) Robbie Collin This X is on fire.
Posted May 24, 2011Edit critic review
3/5
Vallanzasca (2010) Robbie Collin The opening act in particular - with its gunfights, bank heists, sex, parties and grimly violent cutaways to Vallanzasca in prison - is punchier than Mr Punch using a hole punch to punch a punch bowl.

4/5
Life, Above All (2010) Robbie Collin If you allow it to, it'll break your heart.
Posted May 21, 2011Edit critic review
3/5
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules (2011) Robbie Collin Basically a child-friendly Superbad.
Posted May 21, 2011Edit critic review
2/5
Take Me Home Tonight (2011) Robbie Collin This 1980s-set comedy was shot in 2007 and has been sitting on the shelf ever since. The damn thing's so old it's almost retro twice over.

3/5
Win Win (2011) Robbie Collin Trundles along for the most part in sitcom fashion, even down to the plinky-plonky background music.

3/5
Vidal Sassoon: The Movie (2010) Robbie Collin Takes an enlightening look at the life of a Jewish lad from Hammersmith who became a fashion world superstar by cutting women's hair in a style that became known as "the Justin Bieber".

Blitz (2011) Robbie Collin So much fun to watch, I almost feel guilty about not rating it higher.

2/5
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) Robbie Collin Yo ho ho and a bottle of sleeping tablets.
Posted May 14, 2011Edit critic review
2/5
Jig (2011) Robbie Collin By Jig's end, director Sue Bourne seems to have lost interest in all but two of her young subjects. In fairness, that's two more than I managed.

3/5
Red Hill (2010) Robbie Collin How much of a Western is Red Hill? The fact that at one point the bad guy shoots someone off a roof and he somersaults face-first into the street should answer that.
Posted May 07, 2011Edit critic review
3/5
The Way (2010) Robbie Collin Overlong, at times boring, but in the end it seems worth it - although you've no idea why. Which, for a film about a pilgrimage, is pretty apt.

1/5
Attack the Block (2011) Robbie Collin Utter blocks.
Posted May 07, 2011Edit critic review
2/5
Priest (2011) Robbie Collin Paul Bettany in a cassock with a cross biroed on to his forehead, potholing with vampires. In 3D.

5/5
Hanna (2011) Robbie Collin "I just missed your heart," Hanna says at one point, as she spears an enemy to death. Not mine, she didn't.

3/5
Water for Elephants (2011) Robbie Collin Here's a film in which Twilight's Robert Pattinson runs away to join the circus - but, amazingly, not as the Incredible Giant-Faced Man.
Posted Apr 30, 2011Edit critic review
4/5
13 Assassins (2010) Robbie Collin The two halves of 13 Assassins are as finely balanced as one of the samurai swords from its grand, limb-lopping LOL-fest of a finale.

1/5
Everywhere and Nowhere (2011) Robbie Collin Everywhere & Nowhere's director Menhaj Huda says that getting the film made felt like "a long journey". Try watching it, son.

2/5
Tracker (2010) Robbie Collin What would Ray Winstone sound like if he did a South African accent? Answer: Exactly the same as he would if he was doing a London, Italian or Kathmandu accent. Like either a homicidal tuba or Muttley with a hangover.

5/5
Insidious (2010) Robbie Collin There's always some chump happy to claim that any given horror film was so scary they were "whimpering in sheer terror". Difference with Insidious is, the damn thing's so scary I actually WAS whimpering in sheer terror.

4/5
Cedar Rapids (2011) Robbie Collin Effectively a coming-of-age comedy set 25-odd years later than normal. Tim Lippe's a 40-year-old in the body of a 15-year-old with the haircut of a four-year-old.

3/5
The Veteran (2011) Robbie Collin Toby Kebbell's war hero Robert Miller is a troubled soul. He's a handsome fella with a bit of swagger but he looks in the mirror with pure hatred and ties his tie like he's garotting himself.

1/5
Beastly (2011) Robbie Collin Beauty And The Beast except with the lusty, gothic menace that makes that story interesting replaced by moany teenagers and crap acoustic guitar music. Or, in short, Dawson's Freak.
