Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle (2025) David Hogan Its simple plot and predictable backstories may hamper enjoyment a bit, but even then the fights are so well animated you’d be hard-pressed to not at least enjoy it as a guilty pleasure.

Riding Bean (1989) David Hogan Obviously if you’re not in the mood for a slice of 80s action or don’t like unintentionally hilarious 90s dubbing then this won’t be for you, but if you only have a passing interest in either this a good, and short, example of it.

Deep Sea (2023) David Hogan Some of the vistas and set-pieces are as close to literally breath-taking as a film has ever taken me, which is good because it lifted the otherwise generic plot to the point I was still glued to the screen right to the credits.

EVANGELION:3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time (2021) David Hogan Evangelion 3.0 + 1.01 brings the latest iteration of the legendary franchise to a close with a grand-scale finale that actually puts an understandable and definitive end on the series as a whole, whether that’s what you want or not is up to you.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022) David Hogan A strong effort that surpassed several things that I thought would hold it back more, but the final fight doesn’t have the same energy and excitement as the previous cinematic outing. A fun 90 minutes in the cinema as long as you’re a fan of the series.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie (2021) David Hogan Thanks to having a protagonist whose journey is actually given a resolution at the end of the film even if youve never watched the original series youll have a good time, and if you are a fan then youll get to see some stunningly animated fight scenes!

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (2019) David Hogan For most of its runtime it doesn't really do anything more than a lot of these Jump!-based films, but that final fight... Wow. It's going to blow you away.

Big Fish & Begonia (2016) David Hogan So to sum up, Big Fish & Begonia is a visual treat that has some heart and childish imagination behind it.

No Game, No Life: Zero (2017) David Hogan While it's a shame the original cast were merely extras in a framing story, the new story they did tell was good enough that I can forgive them for it...

Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018) David Hogan If you even have a passing interest in the series, this is an experience that can't be missed.

Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky (2016) David Hogan It's grim without being so for the sake of it (though I wouldn't watch it if you're looking for an uplifting tale...) and the animation, music and voicework are all top notch.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes (2018) David Hogan Two Heroes shows how to tell a mini-story in an hour and a half and have it both pull some emotional weight and check all the action-based boxes these Jump! films always do.
