Simone (2002) BeatBoxBetty Staff It starts off with some fun pokes at the whole cult of celebrity angle. But alas, the cuteness wears off after the first 20 minutes.

A Beautiful Mind (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff I've never seen an actor try so hard to look like he was a disturbed character.

Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff This mega dose of foley drama turns out to be nothing more than stinky cheese.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff Everyone I've spoken to who's seen this just-shy-of-three-hours fantasy flick describes it like it's The Second Coming. Okay, the special effects were amazing and I know that "Star Wars" doesn't have a monopoly on Good vs. Evil -- but sheesh.

The Royal Tenenbaums (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff I couldn't find much humor in this supposed dark comedy.

Planet of the Apes (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff While the new ending is a tad anti-climactic and yes, even predictable, for the most part, Burton manages to keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

America's Sweethearts (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff Yawnsville.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff Pushes the envelope and pleases the palate with a colorful and unapologetic story that will burn in your memory banks.

Jurassic Park III (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff Truly satisfies by poking fun at itself with a B-movie type endearing quality.

Moulin Rouge (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff From the get-go it takes you on a carnival ride of glutenous proportions.

Pearl Harbor (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff We all know that a good film has to have heart -- and this one is just left on the operating table while the patient's locked outside, banging on the hospital doors.

Shrek (2001) BeatBoxBetty Staff There's enough for the whole family to enjoy.

But I'm a Cheerleader (1999) BeatBoxBetty Staff The way the film handles how gay and lesbian stereotypes ... is both charming and funny.
Posted Jan 01, 2000Edit critic review
Bless the Child (2000) BeatBoxBetty Staff Egad. How this awful thriller got made is beyond me.
Posted Jan 01, 2000Edit critic review
The Cell (2000) BeatBoxBetty Staff From the gorgeously haunting opening credits to the redemptive ending, The Cell sets new boundaries in extreme filmmaking.

Mission: Impossible II (2000) BeatBoxBetty Staff Ends up being just another schlock fest with high speed hi-jinx and more stunts than anybody should ever throw money at.
Posted Jan 01, 2000Edit critic review
The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle (2000) BeatBoxBetty Staff Like a runaway train that's packed with far too many bad puns and guffaws.
