Critics Consensus

My Best Friend's Girl spends too much time being vulgar and offensive, leaving little room for laughs.

There's something genuinely transgressive beneath the movie's rom-com surface, though director Howard Deutch keeps retreating to the safety of frat-boy humor.

...ultimately falls prey to the melodramatic silliness that one has come to expect from the romantic comedy genre.

The most insufferable hour and a half of bullshit i’ve ever put myself through. if you love kate hudson like me and wanted to watch this for her, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. i was disgusted and nauseous at every attempt at a joke in this movie.I did not make any expression the entire movie except the occasional grimace. i went in expecting a raunchy, explicit, funny flick where i would cheer for the two main characters. i kid you not, 90% of the movie is "grab her by the pussy" jokes, if you can even call it a joke. more like straight up insults and "old men love big titties" kind of dialouge. it drags on and on and on and most of the time there’s nothing happening except vuglar insults. male lead is disgusting, he pulls down his pants and tells her mother to suck it at her sister’s wedding and it’s ahahahah soooo funny get it because his dick is out hahahaha and then we’re supposed to feel bad and cheer for him to get the girl back?! i don’t know why kate would settle for this kind of bs.
