Julian C @juliancooper_12 2 days ago This sequel does so many things wrong that many fans of the franchise will hate See more Jack L @RT67175345 Sep 20, 2026 Dream master is not the best but not the worst elm street film but is def a film that is rewatch able but wouldn’t be my first pick See more Ollie W @RT90619198 Sep 1, 2026 The dialogue is atrocious, most of the acting is bad. The actor Andras Jones, playing the Rick Johnson character, is particularly bad and ruined the film. Some ok kills but it is a juvenile childish film for babies. There isn’t a great explanation for why Freddy is back after dying in the third film. Some girl gains all these dream powers, which is a major part of the storyline, and yet when she’s up against Freddy it doesn’t even matter. She punches him a whole bunch but he’s unaffected and just laughs. What can actually defeat him is a mirror? What’s even the point of having the powers then? A dumb ending. The only good points: Some good pop songs on the soundtrack. And Danny Hassel who plays Dan Jordan is very attractive. As in the Dream Warriors, Freddy Krueger is presented as a cheesy comedian and therefore the film isn’t scary. Hard to believe that, adjusted for inflation, this is the second best performing Nightmare film at the box office, after Freddy vs Jason. It feels like a made for TV movie, and for a Nightmare on Elm Street movie, it's surprisingly boring. I liked that it starts as a direct sequel to Part 3, but by about 40 minutes, that connection barely matters anymore. It starts to feel like we're watching a completely different story, which takes away some of the excitement of following up on the previous movie. It's not scary, the acting isn't great, the dialogue is weak, and the kills aren't impressive. Most of the movie takes place in a high school or diner, and not much happens. The faces on Freddy are cool, and the scene with Debbie near the end is easily the best scene. The effects in the last five minutes with Freddy is one for the books. I think this could have worked with better kills and a more fleshed out story. Instead, it feels like a major step down from the previous 3 entries. See more Uld F @RT10700606 Jul 26, 2026 The previous film, *The Dream Warriors*, was truly excellent—a tremendous classic—but from this movie onwards, the saga's intensity, quality, and originality began to decline.
