The tourist activities overpower the Christmas cheer, and while the Italian countryside looks gorgeous, the people inhabiting it are less compelling. Go to Full Review

You could do a lot worse than this film and will likely have a happy group of family around the television if you put this on during the get-together this December. Go to Full Review

Eowyn L @ELivengood Dec 22 DeVito is probably the best thing about this movie. The setting and cinematography is good, I guess, but the plot makes zero sense and the ending sucks. Spoilers: The parents were going to get divorced until they found out they just didn’t fight enough, and then once they fight more, everything’s good? Doubt it. Also, both parents are jobless by the end and the dad assaults the mom’s old boss who somehow shows up in Italy. One grandpa remains a sad widower, and the other grandpa is a man child who locks himself in the hotel room for the whole movie because he can’t tell his wife the truth that he cheated on her and then he runs off with some lady he had a one night stand with a decade ago (because of true love *eye roll*). The grandma is perfectly fine with him running off with another woman, and becomes friends with the mistress?? Ain’t no way. This is just some cheating guy’s fantasy made into a movie. Oh, and the little girl gets a puppy. See more Jackson M @Nshvlleindie Nov 10 Utterly insane. The stuff that someone thought should be in a Christmas movie is wildly schizophrenic. Pass, pass, pass. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch Jun 14 A Sudden Case of Christmas, starring Danny DeVito and Andy MacDowell, is a charming holiday film about a family reconnecting under one roof. The dad (DeVito) owns a hotel and wants everyone together for Christmas, not realizing his daughter and her husband are on the verge of separation. They want him to break the news to his granddaughter because of their close bond. The story is cute and fun — a creative twist on a classic holiday setup — and it highlights the power of family and reconciliation. It shows how love can bring people back together and help them realize what matters most. This isn’t a film I’d rush to watch over and over, but if it popped up on my feed again, I’d gladly watch it a second time. The direction is strong, the writing is creative enough to keep you engaged, and Danny DeVito is, as always, a highlight. His performance adds a spark to the film, and Andy MacDowell is effortlessly charming and beautiful in her role. Overall, A Sudden Case of Christmas is a sweet holiday watch — not a masterpiece, but a warm, enjoyable film that brings a bit of festive magic. Not every movie has to have unrealistic stories. Marital issues are real and the message was clear. Put everything aside and celebrate Christmas with your family! Danny Devito, the adorable little girl and a very cute puppy! You cannot go wrong! See more Ryan W 12/28/2024 The best part about this movie was Dany. I enjoyed his time on camera, particularly with the grand daughter character. The start made the movie promising and seemed to be setup well, but execution was terrible. All the subplots were an unintesting, confusing mess. I REALLY wanted to like this movie but It seems to have been re-written several times during shooting. otherwise I have no idea how this was greenlit. See more Read all reviews
