Alexander Garcia (Thom Nemer) has always believed he has the worst luck in the world, so when his mom Val (Eva Longoria) devises a plan to bring her seemingly disconnected family on a fancy vacation to Mexico City aboard a luxury RV as part of her travel writing job, he is sure it will end in disaster. Despite his fears, the family -- including dad Frank (Jesse Garcia), teen sister Mia (Paulina Chávez), Grandma Lidia (Rose Portillo), and Grandpa Gil (Cheech Marin) -- set out, only to find absolutely everything is going terribly wrong. When the family discovers an ancient, cursed idol may be to blame, they must work together to return it to where it belongs.

It’s a frequent complaint that a film is boring because nothing happens, but here is an example where the problem is things are just constantly happening, creating a kind of antics-fatigue.

lots of lowbrow humor... none of it lands, none of it is funny and even Cheech Marin can’t bring any spark into this sad family affair.

Very Bad Road Trip falls a little short of both its early promise and its 2014 predecessor, but if you’re in the market for about an hour and a half of family-friendly entertainment at home, it’s a solid choice.

This family film has good vibes and likeable characters, even if the comic timing isn't always perfect.

Your mileage may vary on this Road Trip. Some of you will find it just fine, but considering the overabundance of smarter, funnier options for family viewing in the streaming landscape, I gotta say SKIP IT.

An incredibly woke version of the first that never should have been made.

Very good. Not as punchy as predecessor but still delivers smiles. Well written and directed. Great cinematography, visually appealing. Eva Longoria and Cheech Marin seems a bit over qualified for this, whole cast nevertheless convincing in character. Still lots of mayhem, confusion, drama, melodrama, suspense, emotion, some intrigue, mystery, chaos and general pandemonium. Entertaining and captivating

What is otherwise a fun family movie is dragged down by some of the most blatant product placement I have ever seen in an onscreen production.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip is entertaining and funny in parts, but can never make up one cohesive whole.
