Rozerin P @Rozeri.n 2h Awake from 2007 is not a typical thriller as commonly found within the genre. Instead of relying on conventional suspense, the film creates a consistently dark and unsettling atmosphere that gradually draws the viewer into its story. I tend to watch films with the intention of not immediately trying to decode the plot or identify those responsible. Approaching Awake with this mindset, I fully surrendered to the film and fell directly into the traps it deliberately sets for its audience. This manipulative narrative style is what makes the film engaging and effective. It skillfully plays with expectations and perception, creating tension through psychological pressure rather than action. Overall, Awake is a gripping thriller that takes its time to unfold and is therefore highly recommended. See more Cork B 5d Oh man. Look, the twist is great - loved it. Cast does a pretty good job, although Hayden seems a bit wooden. In the mean time, we get lots of jumbled flashbacks and subplots that seem only tangentially related to the plot. The plot had quite a few entertaining twists and despite what others say about "too much" happening or "not feeling natural", it's a drama, and the point is to bond with the characters only to feel like our hearts are ripped out, pun intended, when those characters we liked betray us. Perhaps people found the awake paralysis to anxiety inducing, but I felt the movie was paced very well and heavily emotional. It's also a great tribute to a mother's innate love for her child, even if it means self-sacrifice to give their child a few more years of life. See more Read all reviews
