Elisa Jun 2, 2021 Terribly so cheesy and so dated - a portrayal of women as dumb and with a low self-esteem, and entirely dependent on men. An insult to women. It's rare i'll say all films in a saga are good but my god i'd watch every single one over and over again. beyond perfection . See more El S @RT43856032 Jul 11, 2026 Honestly I was 60/40 I felt that it portrayed a dumbed downed version of women. And the fact she’s going back and fourth between these two men? It’s just infuriating. It feels like it was a choice of the producers for Bridget to be portrayed as a men loving ditzy female. See more Vixo S @vixo_six Jun 9, 2026 Bridget Jones's Diary works because it understands its own limits. It is not a romantic comedy built on great narrative complexity, but on the precision with which it captures embarrassment, insecurity and the pressure to perform adulthood in front of others. Its light tone hides a very recognizable emotional truth. The film's strongest element is Renée Zellweger, whose performance gives Bridget a natural mixture of vulnerability, confusion and comic timing. She makes social awkwardness feel human rather than merely exaggerated. Some of the humor can feel childish in specific moments, but it rarely overwhelms the film. As a romantic comedy, it delivers what it promises with charm and honesty. Its value lies in turning ordinary discomfort into something funny, warm and easy to recognize. See more Jovana M. @J_loves_movies May 7, 2026 Such a cute, witty romantic comedy! Why they don't make movies like this anymore is the only sad part about it. Colin Firth so charming in his role!
