Sure it might be barely plotless fluff, but it's well executed barely plotless fluff, and doesn't try to pretend to be anything else. Go to Full Review

Austin S. @TheDorkKing Sep 29, 2025 The 2019 film adaptation of Cats has unfairly damaged the musical’s reputation, with most now associating it with the infamous motion capture disaster rather than the original stage show. While the musical has always been divisive, much of the criticism stems from misguided expectations, its plot is intentionally simple, arguably even more so than Seussical, making it accessible for children while offering layers of artistry in choreography, music, and design for adults. The show’s true appeal lies in its mood, spectacle, and atmosphere, and despite Andrew Lloyd Webber’s uneven track record, Cats is one of his finest achievements. For a musical based on whimsical children’s poems, it goes above and beyond. So if the film soured your opinion, give the stage version a chance; it might surprise you. See more Potassium T @RT73517776 Jul 1, 2025 This is the best thing I have ever seen in my life. It is about cats. Just cats. It is supposed to be silly and joyous. Critics know nothing about silly and joy. See more Nope N @RT72905585 Feb 1, 2025 It's shameful how some critics bombed this production. For a silly musical created from a silly poem, it has everything one could want out of this type of entertainment: heartthrob sensual costumes and makeup; catchy songs; incredible vocals; erotic acrobatics; lurid vignettes; an assembly of flawed but honorable heroes; a spicy, enigmatic villain; a loosely-knit community of feline femininity and masculine bravado; light sprinkles of magic; a story of heavenly ascension we can imagine to which cats can easily relate. I don't know what more we can ask. See more Kris J Sep 18, 2023 Don't mix up this great 1998 filmed stage version with that horrible 2019 remake. See more georgan g @RT98616417 Nov 19, 2021 Great music and dancing, just not my cup of tea overall. "Memory" is a great song. See more May 25, 2020 I watched it with a Pot Brownie as people who watched it sober said not to watch it sober or I would hate it. So it was ok. The music is good. The story is really sinister and (without giving the ending away) it was like Logan's Run. Those cats never had a chance. See more Read all reviews
