Critics Consensus

Zoe Saldana has the chops but she's taken out by erratic and sloppy filmmaking.

The jittery action aesthetic is a bit grating (three cuts minimum per roundhouse kick), but the spectacularly named Olivier Megaton still manages to deliver the goods. Go to Full Review Wendy Ide The Times (UK) Apr 4, 2023
Filling the holster on this occasion is Zoe Saldana, an actress who is leagues better than the material she is given here. Go to Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online Sep 8, 2017

Acclaimed writer Luc Besson (The Professional, Taken, The Fifth Element) co-writes another action-packed movie that even with a few outrageous moments is still a smart, sexy thriller with a good story that propels Saldana's star power. Go to Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Sep 8, 2023
Once you get past the clichés and the reckless obsession of its heroine, it’s a classic Besson action fest, a souped-up drive-in action thriller with exotic locations and dynamic set pieces and action sequences ... Go to Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Mar 9, 2023

A midrange action product with violence to spare, reasonable star power, lots of momentum, even more violence, and heaps of sex appeal, all tempered for mass consumption by a PG-13 rating. Go to Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Sep 5, 2020

Abs B @Abs_B Sep 3, 2026 Young Cataleya Amandla Stenberg steals the show. Its an enjoyable film and is fast paced. I have always enjoed it and probably given it a 4 but its more a 3.75. I was shocked to see it cost aprox $40m to make as there are some serious plot holes and editing issues. The fact her uncle shot a car outside a school and no one said or did anything in Chicago is insane and loses points. The tricks Cataleya (Zoe's turn) does for her assisinations are clever. Its just some average acting mainly from the male charachters let it down. See more David H. @rivrocks Jun 3, 2026 Is it a little over the top? A little cliche? Fast, violent and fun? YES!!!
