Claudio C @Claudio666 1d Etz Limon / Lemon Tree (2008) Only American Movies Have Happy Endings (12,490 – 04 Jun 2026 – Claudio Carvalho) When the new Israeli Defense Minister Israel Navon (Doron Tavory) moves with his wife Mira Navon (Rona Lipaz-Michael) to the border of Israel next to the lemon tree orchard of the Palestinian widow Salma Zidane (Hiam Abbass), the Israeli Secret Service orders Salma to tear down the orchard. Salma has had these lemon trees for 15 years, when her father planted them, and is financially supported by the lemons. She hires the lawyer Ziad Daud (Ali Suliman) to go to court, but as he says, only American movies have happy endings. "Etz Limon", a.k.a. "Lemon Tree" (2008), is an Israeli film that shows a sample of the abusive treatment of Israeli authorities to the Palestinian people. The dramatic story is very realistic and thought-provoking, and the performances are top-notch. My vote is eight. The actors, the argument, the music, the locations, camera and art scenes are the best of it.
