Two horror icons face off in this supernatural movie. Disfigured serial killer Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), who attacks his victims in their dreams, has lost much of his power since citizens of his town have become less afraid of him. Enlisting the help of fellow violent murderer Jason Voorhees (Ken Kirzinger), Freddy orchestrates a new killing spree. However, when the hockey-mask-wearing psychopath won't stop chopping up Freddy's intended victims, the two ghouls start to battle each other.

It is a shame to see so much CGI in 2 franchises known for their practical effects work, but once the script emerges from its introductory exposition phase, the film becomes clever enough to lift these flailing franchises back up from the depths of Hell.

A weakened Freddy Krueger manipulates Jason Voorhees into killing the teenagers of Springwood to stir up panic and restore Freddy's dream-powers. However, Jason refuses to stop killing, leading the local teens to lure both monsters back to Crystal Lake for a final showdown. The battle ends with final girl Lori taking out both fiends, leaving Jason to walk out of the water carrying Freddy's winking, severed head. A highly recognizable cast (including Kelly Rowland, Katharine Isabelle, and Jason Ritter) and an epic monster matchup that kicks into high gear one hour in. The boiler room and lake battles are excellent, and a particularly unlikable boyfriend character gets a highly satisfying, creative The movie plays out significantly more like a Nightmare on Elm Street film than a Friday the 13th film due to the heavy reliance on dream logic and surreal sequences. Ken Kirzinger replaces Kane Hodder as Jason.
