Joe (Joe Pesci) and Gus (Danny Glover) are lifelong friends who seem to encounter disaster wherever they go. They're ecstatic when they find out they've won a fishing trip to Florida, and quickly embark on a road trip. But their adventure takes a turn for the worse when they cross paths with a smooth-talking con man (Nick Brimble) who makes off with Joe's car. They hitch a ride with two women -- Rita (Rosanna Arquette) and Angie (Lynn Whitfield) -- and find themselves in outlandish situations.

Sloppy, formulaic, and unfunny, Gone Fishin' marks a painful low point in the careers of its two talented leads.

The plot and dialogue are third-rate and no one, not even Mel Gibson -- Glover and Pesci's Lethal Weapon partner -- could save this clunker. Go to Full Review John Hartl Seattle Times Jun 14, 2013

Bree R @Breerebreeebree Jul 17, 2026 Absolute classic, I rate it borderline 'leven! It really captures the idea of fishing, as a life long fisherman you grow to understand fishing is about nature and spending time with people you care about and less about putting a line in the water and this movie gets that while being humorous to boot. JP is awesome. See more thiago S @Thiagostone Mar 28, 2026 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Atlas T @X5457 Dec 19, 2025 I bought this movie for my Grandfather on VHS when it came out. I've watched it every year since he passed away. It's a family movie with slapstick comedy, heart, and a few surprises along the way. Joe Pesci and Danny Glover are great together. Definitely worth watching with the kids and Grandparents. See more Stephen C @bob25009 Jun 21, 2025 Funny in 1 hour and 34 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See more T D @RT50628479 Apr 6, 2025 This movie wasn't supposed to be taken seriously, which Is why I think it got badly reviewed. It's a very fun, lighthearted movie that is simple, turn off your Brian enjoyment fun for a few laughs. Joe Pesci in a roll and position I'd never assume to see him in, a family man whose best friends with Danny Glover, so close they live side by side, and have a yearly fishing trip with crazy results. See more Amanda P @RT26569281 Mar 13, 2025 Not sure why people hated it so much! We enjoy it very much! Its a classic, have a some laughs. Its simple, no swearing, no sex, no drugs or alcohol... Maybe that's why people hate on it so bad 🙄 See more Read all reviews
