Critics Consensus

Its depiction of real-life horror will strike some as exploitative, but Hotel Mumbai remains a well-made dramatization of tragic events.

The movie's coda cements the overarching message of extolling heroism and the survivors' refusal to let terror define them. But that moral still rings a little hollow.

Hotel Mumbai is a disturbing and haunting reminder of what so many endured.

Anthony Maras is successful at staging the horrors of that night and the scale and extent of the tragedy is too vast to leave you unmoved.

This is no sanitized account. It’s gritty and admittedly tough to watch. But it could also be one of the more authentic portrayals of its kind. It certainly left me rattled.

The first great film of 2019. A visceral, pulse-pounding, frenetic docudrama held together with extraordinary technique by Maras. Imagine, a Hollywood film based on real events that depicts men and women of diversity as honest-to-God real-life heroes.

Still, "Hotel Mumbai" marks an impressive feature debut for Maras, despite the fact that his script at times lapses into 1970s disaster movie characterizations. (You'll know them when you see them).

Started well. But I quickly got over watching low IQ, brainwashed, Indian guys going around shooting people in the name of Allah.

This is a hard watch knowing that it’s based on a true story but it’s definitely worth the watch. It seems to portray the events that happened very accurately. This film is now in my top 10 movies that are based on true stories.

HOTEL MUMBAI is a very hardcore look at what self righteous assholes with arms and legs will do in the name of God. Excellent production script, casting, acting and direction for extremely serious, real life horror and tragedy. There's a very special place in the hell for terrorist filth of every and any kind.
