What to Know

Critics Consensus

I'll See You in My Dreams would be worth watching even if Blythe Danner's central performance was all it had going for it, but this thoughtful drama satisfies on multiple levels.

Still, even flawed "I'll See You in My Dreams" is a worthy effort to be a viable summer counter-programming option for the adults out there that want to slow down, unwind, and appreciate someone like Blythe Danner that ages like fine wine. Go to Full Review

It covers the day-to-day events in the life of a woman of advanced years who slowly breaks free from routine and begins to see why everyone is so taken with her. The only thing better than knowing Carol is being Carol. Go to Full Review

Monic Kenya M Jul 12 Great script, story and superb acting. See more HMF B Feb 8 I was going to fail this movie as boring, but after reading a few good reviews it reminded me of the good moments and what the movie has going for it. Great acting by all the actors, though I'm a bit tired of seeing Sam Elliott in the same quiet-Southern-gentleman-cowboy-who-doesn't-say- much roles. Would have liked to see the Martin Starr character a bit more developed but overall a nice movie that makes the ordinary lovely. Probably more interesting for an older audience. See more Denny F 10/20/2024 Very slow starting, improves slightly then deep dives into nothingness See more London Girl W 09/05/2024 I was really enjoying this film, and was so disappointed when Bill died unexpectedly. The film definitely seemed lacking in content. It was a bit lacklustre. I enjoyed it until Bill died, then felt short changed. The acting was good and I'm a fan of Sam Elliot and Blythe Danner. If I had l known what the ending was going to be, I would have chosen not to watch it. Martin Starr was very boring and annoying, could have done without him and his tone deaf voice. See more KB B @Okbullard 05/10/2024 This was such a compelling movie with great acting and storyline. It's definitely worth the watch. See more Shelley Ann V @Shells 04/28/2024 Good acting all round, tender and watchable. Somewhat banal and slightly dreary. Certainly not much joie de vie. Awful karaoke and plenty of death with cameo appearances from two dogs. The film may be sponsored by Chardonnay since the heroine spends nearly every scene swilling it, when she's not drinking beer, Appletini or smoking pot. The critic's 93% score is unjustified.
