Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and based on George R.R. Martin's short story, the story centers on a queen who, desperate to fulfill her love, makes a daring play: she sends the powerful and feared sorceress Gray Alys (Mila Jovovich) to the ghostly wilderness of the Lost Lands in search of a magical power, where the sorceress and her guide, the drifter Boyce (Dave Bautista), must outwit and outfight man and demon.

Critics Consensus

Squandering George R.R. Martin's source material on an incomprehensible eyesore, Paul W.S. Anderson's In the Lost Lands could use its own map out of the wilderness.

Neither Bautista nor Jovovich can elevate this ugly-looking misfire. Fans of entertaining fantasy action need not apply.

This Europudding production plods unrewardingly through the murky and humourless terrain of science-fantasy; it is a movie of flabby characterisation, dull storytelling and midprice VFX work.

In The Lost Lands, however, feels superficial even by Anderson’s standards, leaning a little too heavily into his predilection for pastiche.

[Brief] entertaining moments are drowned out in a barrage of cliched dialogue, confusing storytelling and highly artificial and drab-looking sets, which really kill any sense of immersion in the fantasy tale.

The world it presents to us is half-developed, the characters are bland, and the overall plot is tremendously boring, even though it's barely an hour and a half long. [Full review in Spanish].
